"She stood there all alone, well not quite alone. Her male companion was there, but not to love and protect her. She stood still, unflinching, her arms hung listlessly at her side, as he rained physical blow on her. There are many similarities and differences in the stories Cotton Candy and Little Cog-Burt. Of course, I can state the obvious and tell you one difference is they are written by two different authors, but I'm getting more in-depth than that.  To start off with the difference with Cotton Candy is that it was about a Lola (women) journey after her mother cloudes her growing up. Loa struggles to find someone to share her life with. Lola is obsessed with childhood fantasies and sees them every one. For example, she uses the butterflies to represent her past lover and her sense of happiness and beauty. The butterflies also represent how she admires the sense of prostitutes. She uses the butterfly that she can go men to men like a butterfly goes flower to flower.  The butterfly also shows her growing and evolving like a caterpillar to a butterfly in the sense of her desperate desire of man. Next, the difference in Little Cog-Burt is that the story is about a mother fulling her needs.

The short story Tetiyette and the Devil are written by a seventeen-year-old girl from Guadeloupe. Which is ironic because these stories are usually addressed by an adult audience, are almost exclusively told by males. These stories belong to the rich oral tradition of Caribbean funeral tales. Tetiyette and the Devil is a spiritual text because it mentions the devil, but it's also a historical text because of its oral tradition. There are also multiple relationships in the story with the brother and sister or daughter and parents. The stories switch from pros to poems to appeal to our emotions. The pros in the story are boring and straight to the point, while the poems have rhythm and you can remember it. This story also switches from the pros to the poem to intensify the messages in the story. For example, "Oh, Mama! Oh, Mama! Bel-air-drum! The man to whom you married me, Bel-air-drum" (3) this lines show us that she blames her parents and she doesn't take responsibil
